I have been in writing mode, sometimes when there is a lot of editing to do and I have been working endlessly every day from morning to night, I need to write. For sanity’s sake. Put thoughts on paper. Thoughts I’ve been holding on to as I silently click the mouse going between programs, in a repetitive movement.
I wanted to talk about our ever evolving process. Where I was two years ago to where I am now mentally. I’m not the same person, not the same business person that’s for sure. I’ve let go of a lot. Success looks differently to me now, and I think that has freed me. There would have been a time where if I didn’t land a contract, it would hit me personally, the ever haunting question, am I good enough? And now that state of mind is so foreign to me. I don’t ask that question anymore. I just show up, do my best, try to make you guys feel as amazing as you should. My goal is to be the place of comfort and goodness, so that when you look back on your photos, you don’t just remember a camera in your face. You connect it with a feeling that you can’t put a price on. That is success to me.
This year I have sixteen weddings in the books and I am so looking forward to each one. Each one different. Each a beautiful story of two people finding each other in this great big world. Stories of love and triumph, patience and commitment. I can’t put into words what an honour it is to share in these magical days with my clients. I’ll be in all different parts of Nova Scotia this year. From Yarmouth to Merigomish. Back to the Saraguay House in Halifax and the Best Western in Bridgewater, The Hill Venue for the first time, White Point Beach Resort for the first time (for a wedding that is) and another one of my favourite places, back to Harbour Mist. I’ll be at the Tangled Gardens in Kings as well, truly touching so many corners of the province. Each an adventure I will treasure.
Yesterday, I was backing up older files from external drives to dropbox, just in case. External drives don’t live forever. I stumbled on to the raw files of the styled shoot I shot two years ago with Hannah and Brendan. It was beautiful, but I’ve changed so much in the way I edit, I had a go at it once more. So in the spirit of evolution. I wanted to share them with you.
Another shout out and a giant thank you to the incredible vendors from that day!
